Training

The NAACP Training Department is housed with the Research, Training and Advocacy Division. The primary goal of the department is to provide effective and efficient training, and information sharing opportunities for NAACP units and constituents in the Association's six (6) advocacy areas. These areas include: Civic Engagement, Criminal Justice, Economic Empowerment, Education, Health and International Affairs.

NAACP Leadership Training Academy

The NAACP Leadership Training Academy is the vehicle through which the Training Department's goal will be achieved. The Academy provides a viable and reliable source of leadership training and development. Through the NAACP Leadership Training Academy, participants have the opportunity to select from two certification tracks and one Community Advocate Module.

Executive Leadership Track

The Executive Leadership Track is for all appointed and elected Executive Committee Members only (state and local). This track covers the fundamentals in Operations, Policy and Advocacy to properly and effectively serve as an NAACP Executive Committee Member. (This training is currently optional for State Conference Executive Committee Members; but mandatory for Branch Executive Committee Members.)

Certified Policy Advocate Track

The Certified Advocate Track provides courses concentrated in policy training in the NAACP's main content areas: Criminal Justice, Economic Empowerment, Education, Health, International Affairs and Political Empowerment (Civic Engagement).

Training Materials

The Executive Leadership Certification Training Workbook was created to provide Executive Committee Members and Unit Officers with a comprehensive resource that will assist them with properly and effectively executing their leadership duties.
